This time-tested gold coin was designed by Christian Gobrecht. They were minted out of the Philadelphia, Carson City, Charlotte, Dahlonega, Denver, New Orleans, San Francisco mints. On the obverse, Liberty faces left with 13 stars surrounding her and “Liberty” inscribed on her head band. The reverse features the iconic eagle with a shield on its breast surrounded by “United States of America.” These coins were minted from 1838-1907
