When you sell online sight unseen there's risk on both sides, particularly for the buyer. However, Great Southern Coins is able to make offers on some silver coins, gold coins and gold bullion without seeing the item in-person.
We can make sight unseen purchases on items that have been certified and authenticated by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) or the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).
Both NGC and PCGS certify the authenticity and graded condition of pieces. This helps to establish a true market value for the item, giving us confidence in the purchase even if we haven't seen the rare coin or bullion ourselves.
Rare Coin Appraisals

Our appraisal fee is $125/hour with a minimum of 1 hour or 10% of the total appraisal value, whichever is higher.

Mail-In Purchases of Rare Coins
Any loose, raw or uncertified coins must be sent to our coin shop for authentication prior to making a purchase offer. Here's how it works:
- Customers can use any of the shipping methods they prefer to mail their coins to us to receive a purchase offer. We always recommend mailing with insurance and tracking.
- We'll verify that the item has arrived and thoroughly inspect it.
- After determining the quality, market value, potential customers and demand we'll make an offer.
- If you accept the offer we'll immediately mail a company check for the agreed upon amount along with a receipt for the purchase. We do not pay cash for items that are mailed in.
When a seller prefers to have their coins back rather than selling them there's no cost. Great Southern Coins will cover the cost of the return. The return shipping includes insurance and packing materials that protect the item(s), just like when we ship orders that are purchased through our online platforms.
